Morgantown Pride is a non-profit providing social and educational resources for the LGBTQ+ Community, Friends and Allies of Monongalia County, West Virginia. Our main focus is to sponsor and participate in events and programs that enrich the Morgantown community and affirm the value of LGBTQ+ people within our community.
Ash is a trans nonbinary organizer from the beautiful state of West Virginia. In addition to founding Morgantown Pride and serving as President, Ash served the first openly transgender Human Rights Commissioner for the City of Morgantown from 2020-2023, as well as the LGBTQ+ Liaison for City Hall. In addition to their professional role as a Press Relations Manager, he is also the co-founder of Morgantown RAMP, a grassroots organization working in conjunction with unsheltered individuals to create safe, sustainable housing and access to life-saving resources without the bureaucratic red tape. Lastly, Ash serves on the board of The Rainbow Project of West Virginia, a mutual aid group providing resources to unsheltered LGBTQ+ neighbors in Morgantown. In their spare time, Ash enjoys hiking, traveling, researching quantum physics and black holes, collecting rocks, chasing tornadoes, snuggling with his seven cats, and driving a Toyota Yaris to the base of an Icelandic glacier while their spouse sits in the passenger seat holding on for dear life.
Brian is a straight cisgender ally, City Councilman, and community organizer focusing on housing issues. He will complete his housing fellowship with movement law lab in May of 2023. Brian has served for two years as Morgantown Pride’s Community Outreach Director, and has been recently elected to serve as Vice President.
Anna is a bisexual cisgender advocate with seven years of experience working within nonprofit organizations. She holds a Bachelor in Criminology, as well as a Masters in Criminal Justice. Anna has been advocating for many social and human rights issues surrounding marginalized communities. She has previously created and implemented community outreach initiatives including fundraising and volunteer coordination efforts.Anna enjoys coffee in the mornings, reading, swimming, and spending evenings playing games with friends and family!
Rev. Emily Harden is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian tradition and serves in the community as a healthcare chaplain and children’s educator.
Michael is a 2018 WVU graduate in Public Relations. He has dedicated much of his time to the advancement of queer spaces as well as educating those who may be unaware of queer identities and statistics surrounding the queer community. In his spare time he likes to learn about space, ancient history, and hang out with his family.
Hollie is a queer West Virginia native with a background in digital media, promotions, and public relations. They graduated from WVU with a Bachelor’s degree in strategic communications, and they recently finished their Master’s degree in marketing communications. Hollie feels at home amongst the queer community, and she is passionate about creating and coordinating safe spaces. Hollie also loves to roller skate, shoot film, and make experimental art.
Will is an openly gay supporter of the Morgantown community. He moved to Morgantown in 2010 to attend WVU where he became an active member of Alpha Phi Omega. He is currently the lead of an LGBTQIA+ Business Retail Group within the company he works for with a focus in West Virginia involvement. He loves any opportunity to engage with the growing community. His hobbies include crocheting, road trips and spoiling his two fur babies Meeko and Piper.
Kayla has served as the treasurer for Morgantown Pride since 2020. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and and being outdoors.
